Brex Card | U.S. News

The Brex Card is a no-annual-fee credit line aimed at startups, mid-sized companies and corporate business owners. It makes the most sense for business owners who use the Brex platform. Cardholders earn seven points per dollar on ride-hailing services, four points per dollar on flights and hotels booked through the Brex travel portal, three points per dollar at restaurants, two points per dollar on eligible recurring software subscriptions, and one point per dollar on all other purchases. The Brex Card works differently than other business cards in that you may start off with a daily statement account, with payments automatically withdrawn from your bank account every day. Over time, you may be switched to monthly payments. There is no interest, but you can’t carry a balance.

  • Are using other Brex business services.
  • Want to use Brex Card to manage and set limits on employee spending.
  • Are OK with daily payments to start.

The Brex Card is a charge card, so payment is due in full, either daily or monthly, depending on your account. Also, the limit on your Brex Card will update in relation to your cash balances. To get the most out of the card, take advantage of the expense management tools and employee spending controls.

Editor’s Take

The Brex Card can make sense if you’re unable to get approved for other cards, but there are better options for improving your credit history. If you’re struggling with bad credit, you should look for a card you can responsibly use long term with low costs – ideally, with no annual fee.

Opening a credit card and keeping it open indefinitely with on-time payment history is a great way to improve your credit score. But with an annual fee and no appeal beyond fairly easy approval, the Brex Card is not a card you should plan to keep open for years.

While you might hesitate to take on a secured credit card with a security deposit, a security deposit is refundable, while an annual fee is not. If you’re struggling to get approved for an unsecured credit card with no annual fee, it could make sense to look for a no-annual-fee secured credit card such as the Capital One Platinum Secured Credit Card.
